A WIP Teaser Thursday

Okay, I’m going to be brave and share a snippet of a for-me project I’ve been working on for a bit—on and off, when a thought occurs to me, when I randomly think of the characters. Really, it was so different from TDM that it ended up being a nice little escape when I needed a break from Ruby’s headspace. At the rate I’m going (and combined with the fact I have two other projects I’m bouncing between), I’ll finish it when I’m 50. :) Still, this book has my favorite opening of anything I’ve ever written, which includes this bit.  What are you guys working on this week?

08 Jul I spent the bulk of the long weekend working on book 3 and stressing about the fact I’m still so far behind. (The perfectionist in me is crying over the fact I’m definitely going to miss my original deadline. But, ya know, life. Can’t be locked in my apartment writing every hour of every day.) I took a quick break from Ruby’s latest emotional trauma to put together a Pinterest board for my fantasy-ish side project. (As much as I love TDM series, it’s so dark and what happens to everyone is so terrible that I have to take mental health breaks from writing it.) I really hope I have a chance to finish it and that you guys have a chance to read it. What do you think it’s about? I’ll give you a hint—it has nothing to do with the fae/faeries.

09 Oct So, so, so very excited to finally have a finished draft of my WIP.  I think it might be a total mess—especially the ending—but I’m glad I pushed through.  It’s been exactly one year in the making. I started it last Columbus Day weekend, after I took a research trip to Boston, but I had to put it down to commit all of my writing time to Sequel.  This past weekend, in between marathoning Breaking Bad, something in me just clicked and I finished it.
It’s not YA, which is one of the things that made it so difficult to write—I had to jump outside of my comfort zone and try and try and try to get the voice right for the age level.  I hope something happens with it eventually, but, for now, it definitely needs a good edit.
P.S. The above picture is a clue!
