i don’t believe the things i say,
about us when I’m drunk.
and distance leaves a bitter taste,
when you’re gone, when you’re gone.
in new york.
i walk the line of great unknowns.
but i never questioned us.
and i’d go back to where we last met.
and tell you so, tell you so.
in new york.the boxer rebellion - new york.
This album and The National’s Trouble Will Find Me basically make up the entirety of book 3’s playlist.

Like a heartbeat drives you mad
In the stillness of remembering
What you had and what you lost
What you had and what you lostThunder only happens when it’s raining
Players only love you when they’re playing
Women they will come and they will go
When the rain washes you clean you’ll know

UPWARD OVER THE MOUNTAIN - Iron and Wine
So may the sunrise bring hope;
Where it once was forgotten;
Sons are like birds;
Flying upward over the mountain.
Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, I got surprised with tickets to see Iron and Wine tonight and if you’ve been following me here you have well documented evidence of my obsession, especially with his older stuff. The concert was so upbeat and beautiful—I loved seeing how he reinterpreted his older songs to incorporate the amazing band playing with him, but, I have to admit, my favorite songs were the ones he played stripped down alone with his guitar. He played Upward Over the Mountain, which was a strange coincidence seeing as it’s on book 3’s fledging playlist (it reminds me of the Stewart boys).

you’re fireproof
nothing breaks your heart
I have a feeling that this album is going to be to book 3 what Arcade Fire’s Suburbs album was to The Darkest Minds.

(523 plays)I got this feeling on the summer day when you were gone
I crashed my car into the bridge, I watched, I let it burn
I threw your shit into a bag and pushed it down the stairs
I crashed my car into the bridgeI don’t care
I love it
I don’t care
THE TRAPEZE SWINGER - Iron & Wine
Please, remember me
Happily
By the rosebush laughing
With bruises on my chin
The time when
We counted every black car passing
Your house beneath the hill
And up until
Someone caught us in the kitchen
With maps, a mountain range,
A piggy bank
A vision too removed to mention
But
Please, remember me
This song makes me cry every single time I hear it.
