My new precious thanks to JCrew’s 25% off sale and my total lack of self control. I’ve had my eye on a few winged totes, but I saw this one in the store tonight and kept thinking about it on the way home so I ordered it. It was a close draw between black and the sandstone color, which I still really love. Practicality won out, though—that beautiful light bag would get so filthy in the city (I don’t think it has feet, making this even more of an uphill battle), and it’s really only a spring/summer bag, whereas black can be worn year round. Likewise, I’m not convinced the pale neutral would really work with the bulk of my wardrobe, but, man, it’s beautiful. For the best of both worlds, you can also purchase the colorblock Tartine Satchel. 

ETA—Nevermind, I also ordered it in sandstone to compare, and this bag in sandstone to see if I like that better. I’ll return two of the three, but UGH. Indecisive. Damn you, JCrew.

Not that I need another purse… like at all, ever, but I’m pretty in love with this Coach Candace Carryall. But no… I cannot. I already have two other bags with tassels, and so many beautiful purses. It shouldn’t matter to me this is the perfect strap length to wear over the shoulder, or that the color is perfect for summer, and the little wings feel fresh. I should not be thinking that if this came in a nice light gray, Olivia Pope would be rocking it all over D.C.  I should not be thinking of this temptress at all. Ever. Stop. Alex, stop. YOU CAN’T. HIDE YO’ WALLET!

Interesting. Did you know Anne Hathaway issued an apology for not wearing this Valentino dress (pictured in the middle) to the Oscars?

“It came to my attention late Saturday night that there would be a dress worn to the Oscars that is remarkably similar to the Valentino I had intended to wear, and so I decided it was best for all involved to change my plans. Though I love the dress I did wear, it was a difficult last minute decision as I had so looked forward to wearing Valentino in honor of the deep and meaningful relationship I have enjoyed with the house and with Valentino himself. I deeply regret any disappointment caused.”

She is basically BFF with Valentino, so this was a big surprise and I imagine he wasn’t too thrilled about it. (Rumor has it Jennifer Aniston was going to wear a nude tulle dress but her team switched it when they heard Anne was wearing something similar.) The fact she heard about it “late Saturday night” implies to me there still could have been time to switch out the dress for something from the archives, though… maybe Valentino wouldn’t have been able to ship it/have someone fly it there in time?
